Rules only work if they are enforced – and enforceable.
I gave an interview about me – though it wasn’t really about me.
What a wonderful way to wake up this morning; to the news that Alan Johnston had been released. One of those rare occasions when you can imagine that the 200,000 people who signed the petitions, and the thousands like me who added his photo to our blogs all punched the air in delight and absolute joy for a man we’d never met. Sometimes, the world is a wonderful place!
It’s not me like to go off on one (well, not like this), but why is Alan Johnston still a captive?
A man who lives and work in Gaza, probably the best friend the Palestinians have (impartial journalism notwithstanding), so he gets kidnapped.
Mind you, the Israelis usually take pot-shots at journalists (ask Orla Guerin)… maybe there’s hope for the Middle East after all, now that they have a common ‘enemy’?
I did finish the book after all… and I can heartily recommend it.
